About Me

When I was five years old, I “died.” At least, as the world sees it. What I experienced was something far more mysterious and beautiful. I found myself outside of my body, watching the scene unfold from down the hospital hallway. A beautiful woman, whom I’m guessing was my Guardian Angel, stood beside me. She told me to “pay attention.” To my left, I saw a boy running through a field. As soon as I looked, I became that boy.

A voice told me gently, yet firmly, “Go back.” “But I want to stay!” I replied. “Your time is not now. I have things for you to do.” And just like that, I woke up on the table — forever changed.

From that moment on, I was different. I could sense energy in ways others didn’t understand. I could hear — and sometimes see — spirits who had passed on, and I felt called to help people in both this world and the one beyond. When my grandparents died, I could still hear them speaking to me. “It’s okay to cry,” the adults would say. “Why?” I asked, “they’re right over there.” That deep awareness of life’s unseen dimensions became the foundation for my spiritual path and service.

My teachers came in many forms — some once human, others not of this world. They taught me about the nature of energy, the structure of the atom, the power of thought, and how we each carry a purpose far beyond what we usually allow ourselves to believe. As an empath, I’ve always felt the emotions of those around me deeply, and I’ve learned to channel that sensitivity into healing, clarity, and connection. I’ve come to believe that our true purpose here is simple, yet profound: to learn love and kindness, and to gently undo all the things — fears, habits, stories — that make our lives more difficult.

The name “Guru Stu” started as a joke in my twenties. After following many self-proclaimed gurus, I joked that I could become one too. But when I learned that “Gu” means darkness and “Ru” means light, it struck something deeper. A guru is someone who walks through the dark and into the light — and helps others do the same. That’s the path I’ve been walking ever since: not of perfection, but of honest, integrated growth. It’s the heart of the work I now offer through my program, DARE to be your BEST — a process that brings clarity to your desires, helps you take intentional action, and empowers you to show up fully in your life, heart and soul.

More than anything, I want you to know this: You are enough. Not because of what you do or how “spiritual” you are — but simply because you exist. Whether you’re navigating grief, seeking purpose, or just trying to remember your way back to yourself, I’m here to walk with you. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing. Together, we can rediscover the light that’s been within you all along. for your content. Have fun!
